Terms of Service

1. Service description

BrokerTools provides AI-powered tools for insurance brokers. The service is provided on a pay-per-use basis, or for a fixed monthly fee if you use your own Anthropic API key.

2. Account and access

  • You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your API key and session.
  • You must not share your account credentials with others.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any illegal purpose.
  • Upload malicious files or attempt to compromise our systems.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the service.
  • Resell or redistribute the service without our written consent.
  • Exceed reasonable usage limits or attempt to circumvent spending controls.

4. Billing and payment

  • New accounts receive a free trial credit. Once exhausted, a payment method is required.
  • Usage is billed per use based on AI processing costs plus a margin. United Kingdom accounts are billed in pounds sterling, measured in pence; United States accounts are billed in US dollars, measured in cents.
  • You choose your account's market (United Kingdom or United States) when you sign up. You can change it on your account page until you subscribe; while a subscription is active, its currency stays the same.
  • Billing is processed by Stripe. You agree to Stripe's terms of service.
  • Spending limits are enforced for your protection. Contact us to adjust limits.
  • Own-key plan: if you connect your own Anthropic API key, you pay a fixed fee of £29 a month (United Kingdom accounts) or $35 a month (United States accounts) per user instead of per-use charges, and Anthropic bills your AI use to you directly. The plan covers normal use by one person: we may limit how many jobs run at the same time and may restrict clearly excessive or abusive use. You can cancel at any time in the billing portal; when the plan ends, your key is removed and your account returns to per-use billing.
  • Refunds may be issued at our discretion for service failures.

5. AI-generated output

BrokerTools uses AI (Claude via AWS Bedrock) to process documents and extract data. While we strive for accuracy, AI output may contain errors. All figures, classifications, and summaries should be independently verified before use in any professional, regulatory, or contractual context. BrokerTools is a productivity tool, not a substitute for professional judgement.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BrokerTools shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

7. Data processing

Your use of BrokerTools is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the service, you acknowledge that uploaded documents are processed on our servers in London (UK) and via AWS Bedrock in AWS data centres in Europe. Specimen also uses Inngest, a workflow provider in the United States, as set out in our Privacy Policy. If you connect your own Anthropic API key, AI processing for your account runs on your Anthropic account under your agreement with Anthropic, which may process data outside Europe. You are responsible for that key, its usage and its charges, and for having the right to use it for your work.

8. Intellectual property

You retain all rights to your uploaded documents and the output generated from them. BrokerTools retains all rights to the service, software, and underlying technology.

9. Changes to terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Material changes will be communicated via email.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
